The Songwriter Foundation

Who are we?

The Songwriter Foundation is a privately-funded trade organization - capable of assessing the needs and development of songwriters in the music industry. The foundation works with other trade organizations and royalty committees to protect writers and offer guidance in music related careers in the UK, Denmark, Australia and USA.

Responsibilities

The maintenance and development of the foundation is one of our key responsibilities. The provision of support to our members includes all developmental, funding, and strategic obligations. 

Services

We provide an information service capable of handling enquiries from songwriters, management, promoters, and other music related organizations. This also includes signposting to other relevant public sector or appropriate organizations. Our information service is supported by the production of the annual Songwriting Directory and its distribution to industry professionals. 

Our objectives are:

- To create a support system for musicians and songwriters and the development of a

commercially accepted network to protect and benefit the artist

- To promote policies that foster fairness for songwriters in royalty legislature

- To encourage partnerships between existing music organizations and entrepreneurs

- To advise and assist policy makers including; SESAC, ASCAP, BMI and other royalty related organizations

- To maintain a specialist music business library for use by our members

- To focus our resources efficiently with all of the above
